Head's Up

“At Buckswood we have a clear educational philosophy – The Buckswood Difference. As a school we aim to nurture every student so that they can be the best they can be; global citizens with a sense of adventure, who are able to discover where their skills and passions lie, and harness these to inform future careers.”

Michael Shaw and Kevin Samson (co-principals)

Inside Scoop from a current parent

Buckswood truly believes and follows its ethos that every child has a talent and this talent should be encouraged and nurtured.

I have one child currently in school and one who has just finished sixth form after 7 years in the school.

They both have very different characteristics but both state consistently that they feel/felt they could be themselves in school without feeling they have to comply to a uniformity untrue to themselves. They have both had good pastoral support when necessary which instills more self believe and confidence. The school’s internationalism makes a good grounding for awareness of the differences with your fellow students and respect of these differences.

Traditional values are still held and followed in school and extra curricular activities and possibilities are extensive, ensuring the students are capable and comfortable in the wider world environment.

As Parents, We Love...

  • Staff familiarity with our children, understanding them as individuals and giving them the pastoral care and guidance that’s needed
  • Extra-curricular opportunities that enhance the children and prepare them for the future
  • The traditional values instilled in the children as they face the modern world, enabling them to stand out as well rounded and mature young people

Our Children Love...

  • The beautiful grounds that they can enjoy and run around in
  • Making friends and interacting with students from different nationalities
  • The extra-curricular opportunities such as self-defence, bag pipe lessons, bush craft and Duke of Edinburgh

School Highlights

Buckswood is ranked in the top 5% nationally (and 5th in Sussex and Kent) for pupil progress and achievement at A level.

Buckswood also runs a very successful International Baccaleaureate programme (top score of 40 in 2018).

The school is known for its sporting prowess and boasts Football, Rugby, Hockey and Tennis Academies. The school has won tournaments at the local and national level and has recently seen some of its footballers sign professional contracts.

The school is international in its outlook and is home to students from over 35 countries. The school bucks the national trend, as all junior students are required to study three languages between Years 7 – 9.
