Head's Up

“Schools should be places of joy, wonder, enchantment and delight, where learning is ambitious, exciting, stimulating and fun and where children feel secure and cherished, Highfield is all these things.”

Phillip Evitt

Inside Scoop from a current parent

We chose Highfield because of the family feeling we got when we came to visit. We loved the warm, nurturing atmosphere. I certainly couldn’t have left either of my children if I was not completely sure that they would be well cared for pastorally. This is where Highfield and Brookham stood out for us; the children that showed us around all those years ago were clearly happy, outgoing and independent children who loved their school and wanted to share this love with us. This enthusiasm has not changed in the time we have had children at the school.

The grounds are spectacular! The woods where forest school, camping, outdoor cinema and capture the flag are played are wonderful, as is the trim trail and extensive playing fields.

Our youngest is in his final year and it is fair to say that we are all dreading our last day at school, as it has become such a huge part of our lives over the last 7 years.

As Parents, We Love...

  • The grounds are spectacular!
  • The warm nurturing atmosphere
  • The children are well cared for pastorally.

Our Children Love...

  • I think the grounds are one of the best things. I get to enjoy playing with my friends all the time.
  • Also, the community we live in is the best thing about my time at Highfield.
  • There is a special bond between all the children, we all get each other.

School Highlights

Our natural environment of 175 acres is not just for show, it is enjoyed by children every day to explore and engage in outdoor adventure. It provides a safe space to learn beyond the classroom walls.

You will be sure to notice that our children are full of life with bounce and spirited energy. Here we celebrate adventure, allowing children to really be children. Our dynamic staff offer a sense of challenge at every appropriate opportunity meaning children are constantly learning.

Everyone should be a courageous learner and this stems from putting your heart and soul into everything you experience. Being confident to throw yourself in and not being afraid of what challenges you might face along the way. We don’t do things by halves, which is why we employ teachers and staff with true enthusiasm and passion for education.

Forming relationships is a distinctive human capability which sets children up for success in the future, this is why we place huge importance on building relationships. Our children value how supportive our teachers and staff are which enables them to feel secure, to be themselves, enabling them to form genuine friendships.

We place importance on children understanding their place in the wider community. Looking beyond the school grounds children are encourage to fully engage with the wider world and to find the part that they will play in society and as global citizens.

The only way to enjoy a sense of Highfield and Brookham’s magic is to come and experience it for yourself. You’ll soon discover what makes us the perfect choice for your child so together we can help them grow.
