“Marlborough College offers a contemporary, challenging and enriching education for pupils with aspiration. In an incomparable setting on the edge of a beautiful historic market town, it offers outstanding facilities and exciting opportunities academically, in sport and in the Arts. Pupils are inspired to pursue excellence and to value achievement highly.”
Inside Scoop from a current parent
We chose Marlborough because we believe that it fosters a ‘whole’ approach to the child. The school is firm that the academic side of things is the most important but it offers so much more besides. As a parent, it is wonderful to see the burgeoning confidence that a busy place instills and the tense moments of parenting the teenager are largely dealt with in school – allowing time together to be happier and more meaningful.
Our son has learnt to be organised, engages in pleasant conversation and has started to make strides academically (none of which come naturally to a 15-year-old boy!). The parental relationship with the Housemaster is also hugely important and one never feels shut out from the child’s development.
I am impressed that our son doesn’t feel that he has to follow the crowd and I think that this shows that pupils feel sufficiently comfortable to pursue their own passions whether they are academic or extra-curricular, knowing that it is a safe environment to do so. Pupils have interests that they want to pursue which makes them engaging and independent. The size of the school means that there are so many opportunities and there is always a member of staff who will take a special interest in an individual and will promote and sponsor any endeavour.
As Parents, We Love...
- A happy, caring, inclusive and diverse pupil body
- The wealth of things on offer for the pupils
- The ‘gold standard’ boarding provision
Our Children Love...
- That Marlborough supports the academic – its cool to work!
- Sport or activity every day
- Their great friends that are made for life
Marlborough offers an outstanding full boarding coeducation with consistently strong numbers gaining Oxbridge places and between 20 to 30 students heading to North America each year, many to to Ivy League Universities such as Yale, Stanford, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.
The co-curricular provision is exceptional with professional coaching in sport and the Arts. Our sports teams regularly reach the latter stages of national competitions and a number of our pupils across a variety of sports represent their country in international competitions.
Our Symphony Orchestra plays in partnership with the Southbank Sinfonia and our Artists exhibit in the Mount House Gallery.
The pastoral care delivered through our 16 boarding houses is unrivalled, ensuring each child is known and cared for individually.
